Optimizing for content views on a new store?

Posted by seohelper on February 15, 2021 at 12:12 pm

I’m running ads to a entirely new webshop. The setup looks as follows:

Top funnel: 3% lookalike on content views –> Optimized for content views (140 events or week). I’m getting content views at $12, which is crazy….

Retargeting: Dynamic catalog @ content views + ATC, 14 days. The audience is apparently too small to even activate the retargeting campaign.

    Budget is 800USD/mo

The lookalike have outperformed interest-based targeting every time so far, but the results are still shit…

How would you go about setting up Facebook ads for a completely new store that has barely any data?

Your interest-based targeting may need some improvement. And if your interest audiences are not optimized, using a lookalike may be reinforcing bad targeting by finding more of the same. I would look at testing more interest based audiences before incorporating a lookalike into the mix to see if that helps improve performance.

I do think your optimizing for VC is correct at this stage.

I would retarget all site visitors over the past 30 days until you have more site traffic.

This is way too low of a budget for a conversion campaign to start off with. You can probably switch to product page views in the long term but you’re not getting enough web traffic to hit escape velocity.

I’d recommend running a moderately budgeted web click campaign which will feed your conversion campaign.

Does your site have multiple pages for users to visit or are you using a single landing page? That may also be causing issues.
