ok so like out of nowhere one of my reels just blew up. i’ve been posting for months getting maybe a couple hundred views max, then this one hits 50k+ and is still going.

the thing is, it’s not really the kind of content i want to be known for. like yeah it’s funny and all, but i don’t want to be that guy who only posts that type of stuff just because it works.

so now i’m stuck. do i keep riding the wave and make more like that, or keep experimenting and risk losing the momentum?

what do you all do when one type of post randomly takes off?

If you don’t make content you enjoy, don’t post it. You’ll burn out fast. Stick with what you love. You will find your followers.

ride the wave a little, just don’t let it define you. post 2–3 more in the same style to see if the audience sticks, then slowly blend in the kind of content you actually wanna be known for. that way you keep momentum but still steer your brand.

also try to understand why that vid hit, was it pacing, topic, or emotion? once you know that, you can apply the same structure to content you care about. you can also try some video analysis tools (e.g. creafico, etc.) to get recommendations on what to improve, helps break down what made it pop.

    Hope this helps !! 🙂

This is such a common dilemma! I’d say test a strategic mix – create 2-3 more pieces in the viral style to see if it’s repeatable, but don’t abandon your core content. What we often recommend to clients at Crescitaly is a 70/30 approach: 70% content that aligns with your brand identity and 30% experimenting with what resonates. This lets you capitalize on the momentum while staying authentic. Also, analyze what made that reel hit – was it the hook, the editing style, or the topic? You can apply those winning elements to your preferred content type. That way you’re not chasing trends but adapting what works to your own voice.

    It’s a bridge, not a U-turn.

Post 2-3 similar videos immediately to satisfy the algorithm and ride the wave. BUT, in those posts, subtly introduce the content you *actually* want to make.

You use the viral topic as a temporary gateway to expose that massive new audience to your true brand. Don’t stop, and don’t pivot completely—blend them.

Don’t ditch what you love just for views, but analyze why it worked. Was it timing? Tone? Simplicity? Format? You can keep your niche but apply those same elements. It’s less about repeating the post and more about repeating what made people stop scrolling.
