This might be weird question! I want to know how quickly can good posts generate engagement. Looking specifically for the time range. (Assume the post has good quality and relevance and everything characteristic of a good post)

Another way to think of this is , if I post something that doesn’t receive any engagement-how long before I can consider the post dead!

24-48 hours is a good timeframe, simply because this is what most platform algorithms watch in order to determine whether or not they will keep showing it to people or push it.

There are exceptions, like blog posts, but if you are posting to somewhere like IG then your results should be… Fast. Some results should be immediate.

I think it depends on the context. Sometimes posts don’t get engagement when posted only to the profile/page. Sometimes, it takes sharing to FB groups for instance in order for that to happen. I had that happen a few weeks ago. I posted something and got nothing but a few likes. A few days later, I shared it to some groups and it took off like crazy. You could call it viral. Once I shared it, the engagement started within minutes.

Also, I would keep tabs on the audience before making the judgement call. Some audiences are very quick and respond within seconds, some take a couple of days. I would base your judgement on past experience with that particular audience.
