Noob Question – What does it mean if tools like semrush shows $0 cpc?

Posted by Happy_Sympathy6913 on March 21, 2026 at 8:23 am

Hi. My knowledge about ppc is 0. Can you help me understand this –

If tools show the cpc is $0, does that mean i could get clicks for like $0.01? And what are your experience with "*product* price" keywords? Most of them show 0 cpc. Do they convert?

    Thanks!

Zero CPC usually means there’s basically no competition for that keyword, so yeah you could potentially get clicks for pennies. But here’s the thing – there’s often a reason nobody else is bidding on it

Price-related keywords can be tricky. People searching “product price” are definitely in research mode but they might just be price shopping and not ready to buy. I’ve seen them convert okay for certain industries but the quality tends to be lower than purchase-intent keywords

Worth testing with a small budget to see how they perform for your specific product though. Sometimes those overlooked keywords can be goldmines

Usually not — a $0 CPC in a tool like Semrush mostly means the estimated CPC is extremely low or there is not enough bidding/data, not that you are guaranteed $0.01 clicks in Google Ads.

“Product price” keywords can convert because the intent is often strong, but I would treat them as something to test in the real auction rather than trust the tool number by itself.

$0 CPC in Semrush means nobody is bidding on it yet… which is either a golden untapped opportunity or a sign that everyone else already tried it and quietly gave up.
