    So I’m looking to get back into my influencer era, but I want to make sure I do it right this time. My content tends to be divided into two categories:

    • ⁠Music content: reactions, reviews, dance videos, etc.
    • ⁠Personal content: lifestyle, fashion, cozy, vulnerable, etc.

    my questions:

    1. ⁠Is it worth it to divide these into 2 separate instagrams, TikTok’s, YouTube’s, etc? My YouTube channel is at 9k (inactive for 4 years) from a variety of content, my TikTok at 18k (barely active), and my instagram at 3k (active in stories and an occasional reel). Over the years it’s been some music content and some fashion content but overall I see a pivot to have the music side of me in its own entity.
    2. ⁠Today I ended up making a separate instagram / tiktok. The tiktok is brand new, but the instagram was a 5 year old dormant account with only 8 photos I decided to use for the username. Is it bad to do this? Should I make a fully new account instead for engagement? The first tiktok I posted got 700 views today and the first ig reel only got 100. I’m worried if I use this old account it will be weird in the algorithm since I removed about 60 followers a couple years ago.
    3. ⁠Ultimately I see myself sticking with this music content thing so should I just scrap the new account idea and keep up with what I have and try to revive??? I just kinda want a fresh start but also lost. Any advice would be of great help!!! I could even see the music account turning into a podcast account one day if it aligns… just need some advice.

    Don’t split until demand forces it. Two accounts means two algorithms, two audiences, double the burnout. You’re not there yet. Build momentum first, then segment later.

    Do this for 60 days:

    * Post 3 reels per week from either pillar, 70% music, 30% lifestyle. Let the data tell you which one compounds faster.
    * Stories daily, even if it’s just one frame. Algorithm reads consistency as trust.
    * Every 14 days, review reach vs engagement. If one niche outperforms 3x, *then* you spin it off.
    * Cap production at 2 hours per batch. Momentum > polish.

    Script: “I’m testing for traction, not perfection.” Stick to that for 8 weeks and your direction will pick itself.

    I think it’s okay to start fresh if you really want a clean direction, but you don’t always need to make a whole new account.     I would definitely split this into two separate channels. Yes, you’re feeding the algorithms twice, and it’s more work, but in the long run it will be much better to monetize.

    Splitting accounts makes sense if the audiences are genuinely different or you want to monetise them differently. Keeping them unified makes sense if your personality is the brand (people are as interested in you and both streams of music etc)… and has the benefit of not having to manage multiple accounts. Depends if it will get confusing for followers or not. Is it all about audience or do you want to leave old content behind (psychologically speaking)?

    Honestly, I’d say it’s fine to split them if you’re serious about building a focused brand for each. Music and lifestyle/fashion audiences don’t always overlap, so separate accounts can help the algorithm and your followers know what to expect.

    A new account could give you a “clean slate,” but starting fresh also means building from 0 again. Your first few posts performing okay is normal. Keep posting consistently, experiment with formats, and see what sticks.

    As a musician myself, all the content I post are part of my story. My lifestyle (country life), my spiritual ponderings, travel, my silly little kitten, my caravan recording studio, my garden… it all is part of my story. I would hate to have to worry about several accounts. But I do get why some people would want to separate them.

    I feel you splitting content types can be tricky. For me, having a clear content focus made it easier to create videos that brands actually want. I found Collabstr to be great for finding UGC projects that match exactly what I post, so I could stay consistent while still landing collabs.
