Need help optimizing my new Google Search Ads campaign

Posted by TT-SW on November 20, 2025 at 6:24 am

Hey everyone, I just launched a Google Search Ads campaign for a client who mainly wants visibility and website traffic. The budget is 150, and after a day we only got 4 clicks with a CPC around 30. I haven’t set up conversion tracking yet but I’m planning to.

The client also says he can’t see the ad when he searches from his location. I’m in a different location than the target area, and I’m using exact-match keywords. Right now I only have four keywords and the ad copy probably needs work.

Any suggestions on what I should adjust? Should I try location-based keywords, or switch to phrase or broad match to get more volume?

Add more keywords as long as they are relevant. Switch to broad match but make sure to stay on top of your negative keywords. Double check your location targeting settings. Run your keywords through keyword planner to get an estimate on expected volume. Also, if your average CPC is 30 and budget is 150, you likely are not winning enough auctions.

Your CPC is way too high for that budget. Start by expanding your keyword set with phrase match and use the keyword planner to find lower-cost options. Also double-check your location targeting settings since the client can’t see the ads. You’ll burn through the budget too fast with only four clicks a day.

    4 keywords only? any reason?

You haven’t set up tracking then what is your KPI burning money?
