Backlinks are king. Think of designing a ranking algorithm: what’s easier to do? One that parses content and determines a “content quality” score or one that simply relies on backlinks instead? Maybe over time content will overtake backlinks as ML gets better but until then backlinks are king; I’ve got plenty of my own research to back that up.

It’s high time to see and research what is your competitor done for their websites? You should do the same in order to rank your keywords on Google top.

Still business owners are running behind backlinks rather than good content which are helpful to users.

Please users keep in mind. Be priority for users rather than google.

Do more focus on website’s content, CTA (call to actions) etc rather than bakclinks.

Backlinks are important but nowadays do 80% focus on website’s quality like

    User Experience

    Bounce rate of the website

    Website Page Speed

    Mobile Responsive

Backlinks stand as a strong ranking factor from the past! SEO is all about satisfying readers by providing them useful information. But that doesn’t mean that people themselves will find you in the crowd. You have to put yourself in front of millions of eyes. Like ranking on the first page of Google, aggressive promotion in Social Media, etc.

At the same time, you have to work on improving your brand reputation by building links. Every month analyze your past report and set a new goal in all SEO segments. Once your blog started to rank, your effort from that moment should be doubled to maintain the position. Because you are well-known and ultimately competition too.

So, despite thinking bad, set a goal and put effort to achieve it. Keep building links in a formal method like Guest Posting, Blog Commenting, etc. People will love to read your content and let them share it on their social media wall.

Participate in online forums, Q & A Sites, blog comment section, and show yourself to the world. If you fail to expose yourself through your blog also contributes to your retardation. Think about it and start your work now.

Many people focus too much on search engines instead of to be focused on people.

SEO is a game. There’s no guarantee that you will win, if you follow guidlines. Build relations with your visitors and readers.

From your other comments, I’d have a look at PE and your other metrics like bounce, time on site, do you have any pop ups coming up? Things have changed a lot in 7 years and it’s not hard for you to be out of the loop…

If you used to rank in content alone, it’s all salvageable. But that depends. Are you alone in this operation or do you have writers employed? If it’s the latter, it’ll take some time, but you can start ranking again. You have to o go through the arduous process of updating every single article starting from the most relevant pillar articles to the least.

Get ahrefs to do some research on what the best main keyword for each article is. Then use a tool like Surfer to tell you what keywords to use with that main kw. Output a Google doc with surfer, and paste your old article into the Google doc to see how many of those kws you hit. Then you can tweak the article to hit more keywords, adjust headings etc.

If you’re alone, all of this is your job. If you have writers on board, you create surfer briefings for them all day and let them add keywords and make adjustments following your directions. The latter is gonna be much faster, so if you think you can handle it, make the investment and get at least one writer, if you don’t have one already.

You’ve been following terrible advice from a Google employee whose job is to lie to people and say that you only need to care about content. That’s just marketing bs on their part. Tiny tweaks can get you to rank higher. We’ve been testing things on our site with articles that rank on first page, but not quite number one, and just adjusted some headings. We immediately started ranking number one or close to it.

7 years ago the competition is very low. But now you can see there is a lot of traffic comes online and new websites are created on daily basis. I suggest you hire [seo expert](http://www.lecieltechnologies.com) who can make more backlinks for your website or try a new way to rank your articles.
