My video is getting backlash
Posted by SpoonOnTheRun on October 17, 2025 at 12:55 amHi. I’m new here so I hope this is the correct place to post this if it isn’t please correct me gently because I’m going through a lot and can’t take any more mean comments on the Internet right now. I created a video with good intention. But a lot of people have gotten offended by it. The video has people who are commenting that I didn’t say anything wrong but all I can focus on is the negative comments. It is my highest performing video and is likely to end up at a couple hundred thousand views soon. I have also been gaining followers from it, hundreds of them. But someone made a video replying to mine and it’s being so mean and hateful and invoking other people to attack me. Should I delete the video?

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 1:43 amThis is the hardest part of social media. I post my cats and sometimes get such vile comments it ruins my day, but I try to take a step back and let it go. I’ll reply to a few or honestly it’s also fine to just block them. A lot of people say any engagement is good engagement but personally I’d rather not be brought to tears over comments and block them even if it means less views. Over time it does get easier though.

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 1:55 amA) don’t read comments
B) all engagement is goodThat’s it. Keep the video. Ignore the haters. Hope more people bring attention to it.
If you want to keep the engagement train going, make a video responding to the negative comments.
Most people are dumb. The people commenting are probably dumb. Feed them.

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 2:29 amI had to learn this my first year, but this is all a part of being public and posting things and anyone being able to see them
I choose to focus on the positive and the negative comments are engagement nonetheless, but I choose not to engage them

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 2:30 amdon’t worry about it. a lot of them are bots anyway. don’t delete your video if you’re trying to grow on social media.
this is something you have to get used to if you want to have a public social media presence. even people who post the most wholesome videos of like, cute dogs or baking brownies or something get hate comments.
if you’re noticing a lot of negative comments about the same thing, you can add certain terms to your comment filters so you don’t have to see those. it might give you some peace of mind.
there’s also no shame in deleting negative comments and blocking people.

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 2:31 amI would imagine with 100k+ views that is standard.
Try to ignore the haters. People suck. Keep in mind meanness is a reflection of them not you. -

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 11:31 amDid you or did you not do or say something wrong or offensive in the original video? If you did you should consider removing the first video and make a follow-up addressing what you did. If it’s just that you said you like Skittles and somebody else says that they like Smarties more than who cares the controversy will drive attention. But if you said something racist or sexist or actually harmful to some Community then you need to consider why so many people are having strong reactions so that you can do better in the future.

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 11:53 amYou have to learn these things:
1. Everything you post on social media cause a reaction (positive, negative or neutral). If you don’t want to cause reactions, then don’t post anything.
2. You don’t have to like everyone. There will be always someone who doesn’t like something about you: what you say, what you do, what you have, how you look like. Sooner you accept that, easier for you.
3. As some people say here, getting critics is great to get more visibility. More comments, more engagement for your video.
4. If someone criticises you, that means at this moment you are the most important thing in their lives. Because their are giving all of their attention to you. They don’t have anything more important to do. Think about it.
5. Whatever you do or say you have to learn to separate the message or action from the person.
What does it mean? As humans we have ideas and beliefs but these ways of thinking (opinions) are not who we are. They are just tools to live. You can think something today and later change your opinion. But your essence didn’t change. The same with actions. I can do something today and this doesn’t define all my existence and essence.
So, these people are judging what you said in this video. But don’t get it personal. They are not attacking you. They are criticising this idea, speech, opinion you shared. People nowadays get to offended because they are too attach to their beliefs. They take everything personal and this is how you suffer.
6. If you understand all these things, you will become stronger. Use what happens with this video (comments, reactions, your emotions) to learn. It’s a great lesson that life is giving you to improve.
I hope this helps to you and everyone 🙂

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 1:41 pmHate = money. It’s a thing people actually do, it’s called rage baiting. My best performing video where I made $17,000 was filled with hate comments. I thought it was good? But people were mad. They watched the whole video to see the end and nothing happened 😂

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 2:57 pmYou’ll never meet them. Once I had a video with 100+ comments that were vile, pure hatred, threaths, even some d*ath ones. I just replied back to them in a banterish way to wind them up even more. It was quite funny, to see someone getting so annoyed at me that I just kept going

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 4:25 pmDon’t remove it just yet; this is what occurs when videos begin to gain popularity. Reactions will be more varied the wider the reach. If you had noble intentions, stick with your video. Even negative remarks encourage participation. If there are too many comments, try muting some of them or taking a break from reading them. Additionally, replying to hate videos simply serves to inflame the situation. It’s encouraging that you’re developing, but first, keep your peace.

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 5:41 pmIt depends on what your video was. You cant juat drop a scenario like this as if “negative response to any video bad”. If your video was discussing the Aztec Empire and you mispronounced one of those words with like 4 q’s and 2 x’s, then dont sweat it. If you were posting some political stuff, whether you were right or wrong you brought it on yourself. But hey, if you monetized it you’re getting paid by your haters so theres that

GuestOctober 17, 2025 at 8:23 pmLeave your video as long as it’s not hateful. Reply to the positive and ignore the idiot haters. This is what social media is about. The good and bad, lovers and haters. Just do you and stay strong. This too will pass.
