This is a very tough task even to make our clients understand that SEO is not an immediate process. we have to wait for results as this is not in our hands. we can only apply tricks and use techniques rest depends on search engines.
This happens with me too. Even I was pissed off with the daily emails of one of my clients for not ranking on google’s first page. Then I convinced him. Now he is believing in my work and results.

Great! Keep it up. As I could see from your replies, yes, starting from scratch, which is a step before you start coding the site itself, the SEO starts. Rebuilding the site from SEO perspective is a good and practical thought.
