Multiple google ads subscriptions which are not mine

    Hi all,

I’m in a really bad situation right now, I think someone managed to access my google account and make 16 google ads subscriptions without my knowledge, I only discovered this when my creditcard was charged approximetely 910 euros on the 17th and 18th of June. I blocked my card and contacted the fraud department of my bank who said they’ll investigate and refund the charges temporarily until the investigation is concluded.

I recieved no warnings, emails or other notifications that my account was compromised or that I had subscribed to google ads, not from google, not in my gmail and not from my bank. So I had no idea until I saw the charges on my card yesterday.

I changed my google password and enabled 2FA. (I thought I had it enabled since google sometimes asked me to verify my identity by pressing a number on my phone, but it mustve somehow disabled).

I already filled out the form from google for unauthorized ads charges but they haven’t responded yet and I’m really scared I’ll have to pay the charges since they did in fact come from my account, and all the invoices have my name and adress on them.

Am I screwed? I’m a student with barely 1000€ on my account so I’m stressing out really badly right now. The weird thing is that when I go to my account and check the subscriptions tab, theres nothing there. But when I click on the ”payments” tab and then go to ”subscriptions and services” I can see all the Ads subscriptions.

Did they use you email address to create a Google Ads account with payment information already on file, or did someone use your credit card info on their own Google account?

Either your Google account was compromised or your credit card information was compromised. You will want to make sure you understand which it was in case you need to report the card as stolen.
