    Meta has gone completely rogue

Posted by mnmacguy on November 5, 2025 at 5:40 pm

Anyone else feel like Meta has gone completely rogue lately?

I set up a simple image campaign, and meta decided to drag in videos from other campaigns to run with it. I didn’t ask for that. I didn’t approve it. I literally had to turn the whole thing off because Meta apparently thinks it’s a choose-your-own-adventure platform now.

And now I have to disable site links in two different spots since they’ll apparently just “discover” and attach whatever links they feel like in the middle of a campaign. Because sure, why not?!

    It’s wild.

At this point it feels less like managing ads…

And more like trying to keep Meta from freelancing on my budget.

Yes couldn’t agree more. I can’t believe it’s legal. We are paying all this money to run ads on their platform. The least they could do is allow us to freely control our setups.

In my opinion, they are doing this more and more recently in order to train there AI models.

Check all of your advertiser settings. Turn off all Ai recommendation there. Untick anything advantage+ related

Meta’s been pushing automation so hard that it feels like the platform’s just doing its own thing half the time. You set up one simple campaign and suddenly it’s mixing assets, links, and placements you never approved — feels less like managing ads and more like babysitting AI with your money.

Account Settings, make sure all AI shit is turned off. Make sure all recommendations and ad level extensions are turned off.

I had this happen and it was literally pulling in Black Friday ads from 6 months prior that were paused to run with them. Total bullshit.

Funny to see this thread today in my main feed.

Opened a client account earlier to see a banner saying “We turned on 1 enhancement for active ads. Including Reveal details over time.” First time I’ve encountered them doing this on their own. Annoying to say the least so I went to disable it and couldn’t find a setting for this enhancement under Advantage+ or regular.

However it stated “You’ve been enrolled in testing new creative and AI enhancements, which you can edit in Advertising settings.” So went to those settings but the account did not have the enrollment selected nor was eligible for it…

Got on a call/screenshare with support and they first assumed the account must have been enrolled, nope. Anyway they did have a resolution which was to go into Ad Preview – Advanced Preview – Advantage+ creative and disable the enhancement there. Makes zero sense to have to modify settings in preview tool but at least there was a resolution. Suspecting this a common problem as the support agent knew immediately.

Also today, can’t seem to open or edit an existing live ad without them turning Sitelinks back on or adding that “Reveal details over time” enhancement. Ridiculous.

Even when you untick all the automated shit, the system turns them back on days later without you looking. Need to literally open and. Check the auto enhancements is 0/7 each morning. What a time sink
