  • LOGO link from Homepage directing to the same Homepage – good or bad?

Posted by seohelper on June 1, 2020 at 2:21 pm

First of all, I have very little understanding on how SEO works. I’m currently learning to develop websites.

So today I came across this opinion, that a main Logo link in top left corner of a webpage should be disabled, otherwise it’s bad for SEO (because “links should NOT lead to the same webpage”).

But I personally think, that disabling logo link on a homepage is bad for UX. Let’s say I’m a user, and I find myself on a new website. I don’t know how the homepage should look like, and I also don’t want to go to url to check if I’m at a homepage or not. I just want to click on the logo and by doing so be sure that the page I am looking at is a homepage. Otherwise if I point a cursor over the logo and it’s not even clickable I’ll feel like something is wrong with this site.

    Any comments will be appreciated.

I can’t think of any reason why the logo linking to the homepage, no matter what page you’re on, would be a bad thing.

Heck, even [moz.com](https://moz.com), [semrush.com](https://semrush.com), and [ahrefs.com](https://ahrefs.com) does this. If those SEO experts do it, that’s good enough for me.

If I click on Google’s logo in search results, it takes me to their homepage. You be the judge.

You answered the question yourself, it makes perfect sense to have the logo take you to the home page. I have a header image and a home page navigation taking me to my home page.
