  • Links in a research publication?

I’m working on a website (we’re a bunch of first timers) and we discovered our main “competitor” (an MD) posts links to his own website in every research article he publishes… Ethical concerns aside, does this work SEO-wise? How effective is it?

Internet is based on linked pages. So, it is a common practice to link pages. Yes, it works for SEO. It can increase traffic, visibility. Also it can improve crawling of a site. Of course it allows use anchor text. Effectiveness depends on how Google’s algorithms use these links.
