Hello, I’ve got this TikTok account with around 5k subscribers that I don’t use anymore, it has a different niche from what my business is and was wondering if I should start a new one or use this one since the 5k subs could really help with giving some social proof

if the old niche is totally different, those 5k won’t really help you. most are inactive or not interested, so the algo just sees low engagement and stops pushing. better to start fresh so tiktok can test your vids with the right audience from day one. social proof matters less than ppl think, performance decides everything. once you’ve got a few vids that actually hook + retain, growth comes quick. you can also use free video analysis tools (e.g. creafico, etc.) to get recommendations on how to tighten hooks/pacing faster.

Especially on TikTok, you’re going for authenticity. So, this new and different content you’ll be posting might not have the effect on those current followers that you want. You will probably see a loss in followers before you gain. However, you can cross-promote if you keep the 5k page active, and if the two audiences align in some way.

Starting a new page seems to make the most sense since your followers didn’t follow for the new niche and will likely ignore your posts anyways.

I lot might depend on what you posted in the first account. You might have insulted enough people on first account to have trouble getting buyers. If you are selling say, beer, do buyers need to know if are Democrat or Republican, your religion, race or sex. No only your views on producing good beer
