  • Launching 80k Products at Once – Will Google Penalize Me?

New to SEO, need advice: I’m building a car parts website in my country with ~80k products and ~5k category/attribute pages. I’ve spent a month preparing the inventory but haven’t uploaded yet.

Plan is to upload everything at once, but I’m worried how Google will crawl/index so many URLs at once and if it might see it as spam. I also don’t plan to make many changes after uploading.

Anything I should know or do before going live?

    Nah – I doubt it – 80k isn’t a lot. 1m is a lot.

Google’s bots fetch 10000’s pages per second.

    >but I’m worried how Google will crawl/index so many URLs at once

    Don’t worry – it won’t

Your pages aren’t going to have enough authority to warrant crawling and indexing

First 24-48 hours it might grab the first 10 pages inside body links on your home page

Do you have any authority from external sites?

If not – then Google will stop at the first 10 pages

Unless you’re getting or start getting traffic it wont go beyond there

If the domain is warmed up or had backlinks it might go futher but caluclating the pagerank flow form those pages will take days….

I’m 70% sure you’ll get a flurry of activity and it will slow down and stop.

Then you’ll need to plan how to get and shift authority to tier 2/3 pages that group the outer tiers of your site aka Authority Shaping

Nope. I’ve launched sites with over a million products and never been penalized. If you create schema for every product Google indexes it relatively pretty fast. the longest I’ve seen was three months. Dynamically populated schema and dynamic site map updated.

In general: no, but imo the question you should be thinking about is what value you’re adding to the web with those 80k products and the rest of your site — are the parts (not judging, just want to encourage you to consider it) all from an affiliate feed that a number of other sites already have?

nothing will happen, but about this:

    >~80k products and ~5k category/attribute pages

do you mean you actually have 16 products give or take?

If you have valuable content then the answer is no!

    Never.
Google will love to crawl it.
