  • Keep excess Advertising Budget not fully utilized?

Is it ok if my client has a high budget ($3,000) but only $1,000 is required for the optimal ad targeting?

Can I still bill the full amount + my work rates (20% of ad budget?)

IMO I would only charge them the $1000 being used for ad targeting plus your rate. If you can deliver the results and save them money, they will hire you again and again.

What I do in these situations, is use the 1k to boost whatever numbers matter to the client, coming in under budget and returning the money isn’t good for you, getting your client 30% higher returns and bragging about it gets you clout and the additional rate.

You definitely should not keep money you’re not spending or for fees. You’d be essentially stealing money from your client and if they ever found out your reputation would be hit hard. Also what do you mean by optimal ad targeting? Are you saying it’s hitting campaign goals or that based on your audience size, your cost pers will not be efficient at a higher rate? I’d recommend taking the remaining and help increase your returns.

With budgets that small you should be charging an hourly or retainer rate. What hourly rate will 20% at 1K or 3K give you?
