I try to follow my friends and the follow doesn't go through, even if I've done it 5 times in a row. My friend searched me up and I got her follow request, but when I tapped on the notification it was gone. Yes, I'm an adult so my age isn'tthe problem, and I've tried uninstalling the app and restarting my phone, but it doesn't change anything.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I literally created this account 15 minutes ago.

TikTok can be very glitchy with new accounts. I’ve read that sometimes they impose a kind of shadow ban on new profiles to filter out bots. You can try logging in from a different device or even from the web version, make sure you’ve fully verified your email, and just wait a bit.

If it’s still happening after a day or two, I’d contact TikTok support, because it could be a glitch related to your account.

New TikTok accounts often face temporary action limits—it’s their anti-bot filter. Usually clears within 24-48 hours of normal browsing/liking without aggressive follows. I’d wait a day, verify your email/phone, and let the account warm up organically by watching content in your niche for 20-30 min. Once you start posting, focus on your first 3 seconds—that’s where TikTok decides if your video gets pushed or buried. If you’re serious about growth, I’d test hooks relentlessly and only consider tiny priming via Crescitaly on videos that already hold 70%+ retention—never on cold content. The algo needs proof your stuff works before any external signal helps.

new accounts get throttled hard on tiktok to stop bots nothing’s “broken” you’re just in probation mode
don’t spam follows right away it flags you faster
set up your profile fully, upload a pfp, bio, maybe one short vid even if it’s throwaway
then chill 24–48 hrs before trying to follow anyone again
once the system trusts you the follows will stick

tiktok is weird w new accounts, they throttle actions heavy at the start to block bots. so not being able to follow right away is normal, usually unlocks after a day or two of just using the app. best move is chill, post a vid or two, engage slowly. another thing i’d suggest once u start posting is running ur vids thru video analysis tools (e.g. creafico, etc.) to get recommendations on what to improve—so when the account does unlock, ur content actually lands.

    Hope this helps !! 🙂
