I initially made a site to learn more about SEO and affiliate marketing with no intention of making money. I made my site on wix and was impressed initially how easy it was and how it turned out. After looking at amazon earnings I somehow made a sale with no organic traffic and I’m not even sure my site is on google top 1000 for my category.

After reading more about SEO it seems wix is not the best and WordPress is where it’s at. After looking at WordPress plans it seems there is a difference between the .com and .org this includes hosting and ability to use plugins depending on the plan if I understand that correctly. So my next step was looking into hosting. Bluehost seems cheap but almost too cheap and after doing more research doesn’t seem like the best option.

Long story short if I wanted to use WordPress and the elementor plugin to build a simple affiliate site I can start to grow organically as I become more knowledgeable with SEO what are my options? Is it possible to stay under $15 a month.

    Thanks guys

I own ReviewB.com which is hosted on bluehost and I use Google Domains. It’s a very reliable hosting company, they have a great reputation and are partnered with Google. I recommend using their services, they’re great to navigate with for work beginners in their WordPress setup. It’s detailed step by step and you can figure everything out with very little experience.

I would recommend getting a full understanding on how hosting works, you’re using a server to host files on. Which means that’s when you feel like you’re growing enough to need an updated server, they have all options to do so.

TLDR: Bluehost is a great company, it’s cheap, and has easy UI’s for beginners and has a great reputation with Google partnership.

Siteground is the one I’ve seen most recommended. It was great for the sites I used it on. I’ve had a couple sites on bluehost aswell and never really had any issues though I’ve noticed the equivalent siteground sites were a tad faster. Don’t use godaddy, they’re insecure and charge crazy amounts of money for what should be free. WordPress.com is less technical & better for those who aren’t as good with tech, but it’s more expensive so if you can figure out how to install WordPress yourself on a host even if it’s through cPanel that’s better & a lot cheaper. My larger sites I host on AWS, but I definitely would not recommend that for beginners.

Use the cheapest host, once you start getting traffic you can scale up to a VPS.

Whatever you do, don’t use WordPress.com, download WordPress from the .org site and upload it to the server yourself.

Look through some videos on YouTube to get started, I’d recommend Darell Wilson’s stuff to begin with.

I bought bluehost hosting service for $200 (3 yrs plan). So I think bluehost is the best option for anyone who”s a beginner.
Rest, WordPress and Elementor is free
Just buy a domain and that is it

You can try hosting on Google cloud. They’re offering a one year $300 credit currently for new accounts. I know you are a beginner. So am I. Took me a few moments to set up my new blog there. You can start with compute engine readymade wordpress VM instance with low resources and scale up as you grow.

I have been using it for the last one month and things are smooth as of now. If you are on a budget, I would suggest starting up with Google cloud credit. $300 credit should be enough for a new blog with low to medium traffic.

Good luck. Hope it helps. ?

I have tried both site ground and blue host for clients depending upon their requirements. initially I felt that site ground is a bit better. but now I don’t feel any difference at all. and coming to the main question can you maintain it under 15$?. it depends on what you want to have on the site. I have maintained websites in less than 10$ a month so it’s quite possible to maintain under 15$

Get namecheap hosting and by your domain from narmcheap as well. You can host three sites. I pay 30 bucks a year for hosting20 gigs of stuff between three channels. Free ssh, mail and customer service. You use cpanel which you can learn how to use effectively in a day and load WordPress sites through softliciois
