    For premium products you chase niches. For social media you need broad audiences.
    Otherwise your growth has a hard cap.

    A page/group/Twitter list for people who breed one subspecies of turtle has an exponentially smaller potential audience than one for anyone with tanks.

    Niching down is always preferable if you want targeted and easier to monitor and track growth.

    It also makes it easier to grow.
