As for the actual answer… it’s mostly just a way to support money pages now rather than a traffic source itself or an entire content strategy.

If you mean writing articles on one topic as a hobby? It pretty much died barring a few niches like sports etc. It’s like vlogging. Depending on the value you provide people will follow you. i still follow few blogs from long ago.

If you are referring to articles which brings traffic, it depends on what value you are providing. Most of the articles online are spammy at best. But If it provides value over others, it still is good I think. I still follow Hubspot or many other platforms that provides value and insights. I find that LLMS usually gives you one perspective that it thinks is right. I’d like to make that decision for myself.

baseline is if you are looking for massive traffic and ad revenue from that, it’s probably dead. But on the other hand if you provide real value to your customers, it’s not dead.

LLMs are discovery tools. It’ll not kill the internet is what I think.

The reasons why you get mixed opinions is because there is a mixture of different types of sites, their competency in maintaining a website and brand, and effects of technological evolution.

Now, when you mean “worth it”, what do you mean? Worth the invest to have a monetary return? Put time and effort into a hobby that you enjoy and want to share with the world?

hub-spoke and and blog post still clicks, it improves your topical authority and grabs long tail keyword clicks..

i did like 12 blog and thirty spoke page and my average page rank getting better from day one

Yep, they still generate a lot of traffic and some of them conversions. I think they still work as topical authority building, and some content can leverage a lot of branding, if worked well.

What i won’t chase are extremely informational content that can be answered but IA without grounding.

I had an affiliate marketing site and AI kills them in my opinion now by just using the content and not giving links. For informational content AI will spit it out to search result or chat, so no ad revenue for you. If a personal/emotional/storytelling blog maybe will find audience, but need unique value.

View blogging today as an authority and trust channel rather than a raw traffic engine. It works best when it supports something else like a product, service, newsletter, or niche community, not as a standalone play. Generic content lost ground to search features and AI summaries, while firsthand experience, strong opinions, and deep niche knowledge still attract readers. Traffic is usually slower and more uneven, but more intentional, which is why results feel mixed depending on expectations.

I don’t think it’s worth the time and effort now. The ROI isn’t that great on it now.

Honestly, blogging in 2026 is a completely different beast. It’s definitely not dead, but the ‘golden era’ of just writing some SEO-optimized fluff and ranking easily is long gone. I’m still seeing good traffic, but it’s no longer just about Google Search, it’s about being where the actual people are.
​From my experience lately, sharing real ”first attempts” or even failures gets way more traction than perfect guides. I had a random post today hit over 6k views in just a few hours because it sparked a real conversation. That kind of community traffic is way more valuable than generic search hits these days.
​Is it worth it? Yeah, but only if you actually enjoy the community aspect and building trust. If you’re just in it for quick ad revenue, it’s going to be a long, frustrating road. It feels more like building a ‘home’ for your ideas now than just a site for clicks.

I have a food blog. I don’t work on it much anymore because I have 2 toddlers and I am working on other people’s websites. But I do go in and occasionally update or make new content. I think it’s still worth it. Last year I made about 20k through just ads alone and put in the bare minimum into it. So, to me it’s worth it. That’s a good chunk of change.
