Just wanna know if we have content creators here who moved to Youtube after successfully building a decent audience on Instagram and how the transition went.

So lets say you had 50k followers on your Instagram and then you moved to Youtube, what percentage of your followers actually migrated to Youtube to follow your content? And did Youtube ended up giving you a better reach, or if sticking to Instagram was easier?

Migrating audiences is always a challenge. I know one woman who did it, but it wasn’t a complete cut-off. She’s verified, 720K+. But her subscribers are around 10K. She did it around the time YouTube started going right after IG influencers in late 2018, talking about ownership, partnership, and monetization.

She and her husband found they’re really better off working YouTube for what it is, and moving select pieces to IGTV. But the strategy serves different audiences, and the content reflects that.

That was the question that was in my mind too. I have read somewhere that if you have a decent Instagram page then it can give you much more money as compared to the YouTube channel.

Very much depends on the type of content you’re posting on IG/FB and how well it translate to YT. Creating content that attracts YT subs is very different than the short form stuff on IG/FB. And like another commenter points out, only a small fraction will migrate from platform to platform. Long story short, unless there’s a specific reason you want into YT and can create 10 min videos consistently, I’d stick to IG/FB.

I have 5.6million on tiktok, 215k on instagram and 50k on youtube. In my experience it’s easy to transfer tiktok to youtube, and youtube to tiktok.

It’s also easy to transfer youtube to instagram,

but instagram to youtube seems like a struggle, I believe this is because its honestly such a different form of content.

Youtube will always be favored over IG, and i suggest pushing youtube hard – i will be this year also, plus IG seems to be taking a nose dive in viewership…
