So yesterday I decided to clean my instagram profile by unfollowing all accounts that didn’t follow me back.
The problem is that I have been using one of those aps “check who doesn’t follow you” (I know I’m stupid, ok) and Instagram noticed it and said “next time we catch you using this kind of aps, we will limit you with bla bla bla”
So, i don’t know how to find who unfollowed me next time, or should i even keep the aps but tone it down a little. Has anyone had this kind of problem?

Do not mass follow / unfollow in bulks. Instant triggers for the system.

It doesn’t matter who unfollowed you. Follow accounts that you are interested in and that have a shared interest with yours, and interact with their content. Focus on creating content that will make people want to follow you.

Instagram is getting wise to this lazy ‘followback’ strategy because it drives down engagement – people only follow you to get a follow back, and vice versa, instead of people following accounts because they’re interested and want to engage.

I had this issue with my personal Instagram. I was using one of these apps to track who was unfollowing me because I was worried _____ from (uni 8+ years ago) didn’t like me anymore, and Insta actually blocked me from liking photos, posting, or even following other accounts for a week. I would stop completely if I were you. I feel much better now, and although it hurts at first, focusing excessively on the numbers is only going to wear you out.

Were you unfollowing through the app? I normally look at who unfollowed and then open Instagram and unfollow them through there instead of the app

You don’t have to check who unfollowed you. Don’t follow people in the first place unless they are some famous person you like or a friend.
Don’t feel obligated to return the favor just because some random decided to follow you for whatever reason.

I would argue that a follow for follow strategy is still the best way to build organic reach on social media channels

I was warned about those apps as well. A friend of mine said they used the apps to track who was not following them that they followed, and then recorded who it all was and then went back into Instagram and natively unfollowed everyone there to avoid being pinged by IG for using the app. Unsure if this is a viable strategy though, as I have never tried it myself but it could work for you. Just be careful about a mass unfollow in one go.
