  • If I disable AMP, will it affect my site’s indexed page rankings?

Many of our content rank on the first page of Google and so was wondering if disabling AMP will have a negative impact on page ranking. Please advise.

I would recommend keeping AMP enabled, but it’s ultimately your choice to disable it. I would check your Google search console, look on the left of the page on the sidebar and check out where it says “AMP”. The first thing I would do is see how many pages it’s showing active, then determine the keywords you have for each page. Copy down all of the links that are active, and keep track of the keywords. At your discretion, disable AMP and track the data of the links and keywords to see if it’s going to benefit you or not to disable it long-term.

TL;DR: Personally, I have a great experience with AMP, I wouldn’t want to disable AMP for my site, but it’s totally your discretion but be cautious and track data to determine the pros and cons for your site.

If your site is fast and responsive you don’t need amp. Speed is the key amp brings. But if it’s slower to begin with there’s no benefit to amp.

Personally I found that after I disabled amp there was no major change. However when I sped my site up I did see improvements in ranking.
