We are in a time of change and was wondering what the Reddit community thinks? (For better or worse)

I’ve been running community groups on FB for some time and from perspective, they are far better run on a messaging app like WhatsApp or Telegram. Having said that, though, these are pretty closed off communities that essentially do not need to promote themselves as they are invitation-only.

There is no doubt that, in the West at least, people are abandoning Facebook and Instagram because it has become so ‘enshittified’ as to be unusable. I don’t know that the answer is, to be honest.

Memberships and online communities, hosted through platforms designed just for communities.

Facebook has been “dead” according to Reddit for 10+ years but its still one of the most used sites. In fact nowadays its basically Reddit but with real names, as Facebook Groups have become the prominent focus of their home page rather than individual pages.

Neither are going anywhere and if anything, their willingness to evolve with the times shows how resilient they are. Compare that to something like Pinterest which really hasn’t evolved and is stuck way behind the times.

TikTok is how the younger generation discovers everything and Bluesky is the alternative to X. There’s a few early players coming up that could take the market.

focus on building communities on the more viral/trending platforms. tiktok is one of the best if not THE best platforms out there for building a brand/business/doing promotion

personally I dont think IG and FB are on their way out, but if you’re not using platforms like tiktok, it’s an untapped resource

Email. As much as possible, try and get your social following onto an email list your control. Then send sharable email content that helps grow your list.

TikTok is still big and currently a lot of brands are starting to do TIkTok marketing via short video, creator live, shop live and TikTok shop. So it’s pretty promising. The creator video campaigns is part of word of mouth though.

honestly email lists and community building still work better than any platform imo. you own your audience and no algorithm decides who sees what. for discovery youtube is way more sustainable than ig/tiktok since videos stay discoverable forever
