  • I lost 70% of my impressions because of 2026

Posted by Real-Turnover9685 on January 16, 2026 at 6:47 pm

Hey there ! I’m looking for some advices as I recently went from 50k impressions to just about 15000 overnight.

And it happened because I changed the titles of my blog articles from « 2025 leaderboard » to « 2026 leaderboard ». It appears that people are still querying with the 2025 keyword rather than 2026.

My question is the following ; was it an expected behavior and will I get back to 50000 impressions a day if I change it back to 2026 ?

Thanks a lot for your help,

    Florent

Edit : I did NOT modify the slugs. And I mitght reply with my friend’s account as it appears this one doesn’t have enough karma. Friend’s tag : responsible-raddish

Research the num=100 update and refer to the Google Search Essentials topics about how to recover from a core update. Those are the most likely answers.

I think you are blaming your shift of 2025 to 2026 in the title but I would say just try to correlate with the recent Google update during christmas/new year. Just FYI one more algo update (unconfirmed) seems to be kicked in from 15/16th Jan ’26.

My whole point is try to correlate with other factors because sometimes you are unlucky and your changes coincide with ecosystem changes and you don’t know that culprit is your change and or ecosystem change.

One more random tip – Just see that you haven’t changed anything but is it like same time you start having indexing issues because of server or unitentional robots file changes or something similar, check your log files if URLs are getting proper indexed.
