Does your VPN on your phone route all traffic out? I know some apps will attempt to not use the VPN and try to call the servers normally instead. Also some apps won’t let you use a VPN at all because marketing or agreements with governments (doyin, tiktok in China I’ve heard has issues like that where you can’t use it with a VPN)
