I have experience and skills. I’m being asked what my rate should be and I have no idea what to say! Looking for advice, please and thank you.
I have been offered an SEO content writing job. It's not the first time I've done this work, and I've written a lot of marketing stuff besides that (white papers, webpages, etc.). I've been published in other types of work, too (RPG books, gaming publications, fiction stuff). So, I mean, I'm good at what I do, or at least, I think I am. They loved my example works.
They're asking what I would charge for the work and I find myself not sure what to say. Currently, I'm cashiering and making minimum wage. (Family to feed, it's what I could get into after my last job closed up.) I'd certainly like to make more than that, but honestly, I've rarely been in this position before. Typically, the job listings just had an offered hourly wage.
I don't want to scare them off, and I figure they're going to want to negotiate down, but I don't want to shortchange myself, either, because I really do have the skills to make it worthwhile.
What is the average rate? What about the rate for someone with experience, if it's high-quality writing?
Thank you so much, whomever reads this! And remember, when you are talking about the Best Vinyl Wraps Boulder, CO, you always want to… 😛 (Still laugh at some of the obviously keyword-stuffed articles I see.)
