I am testing Reddit Ads for e-commerce for the first time, let’s see if it will convert

Posted by seohelper on July 4, 2021 at 2:58 am

The thread: **Have you tried Reddit Ads? Was it effective?** inspired me to start this (and it happens that I am testing Reddit Ads as well), I mean you’ll never know if it is effective or not for your own purpose so I gotta try to find out.

    # Day 1

    Objective: Conversion

    Bid: $1 per click

    Lifetime budget: $100

    Schedule: 7/3 12am EDT – 7/10 11:30pm EDT

    Location: USA

Not gonna reveal which subreddits I am targeting but the screenshot actually gives you a clue.

Reddit has been a pretty low quality channel for conversions in my experience, but it’s great for branding like others have said. Really good CPMs.

You’ll likely find more conversion success in the feed placements than the comment placements.

Does Reddit still force you to do $.10 CPC minimums? I remember years ago it was a true auction that started at $.01

    # Day 2, last day.

I gave up. My CTR is too low and I dont even get upvotes.

My ad is too shittyy for Reddit XD

    # Lesson learned:

    * Reddit ads might not be a good choice for physical product selling.
    * If Ill run a new ad campaign, I will try lower per click bid
    * If I will use Reddit ads again, I will try different campaign objective
    * If I will use Reddit ads again, I will try it for SaaS or for a digital product

I really don’t understand “good for branding”. Unless you’re coco cola you probably shouldn’t to be paying just to spread brand awareness.

As far as Reddit ads go I don’t have experience but I do sometimes see very well disguised ads on here, so if I were to give it a shot I’d try to create something very organic to the platform, educational, and relevant to the sub. Strictly top of funnel though.
