  • How would you link translated websites between each other?

Posted by seohelper on June 1, 2020 at 11:29 am

    Good day everyone,

For exemple, let’s say my main blog is in english “.com” and I want to translate it in french and spanish, so “.fr” and “.es”.

How would you link them between each other? Only homepage to homepage? Or each article to its translation?

Thanks for your help and thoughts about this!

Personally I would avoid creating three sites but setup one to be multilingual with a language option to choose what to show. Then you only have to maintain one site.

Park all the domains on top and then use requests coming to e.g .fr to define the default language as French.

Depends on what you’re using, if it’s WordPress I’d try out all the multilingual plugins to see if any works for you.

I would create multi lang site instead.

However, to answer your question… I would either:

    1. place the links to all in the footer on each website
    2. allow “language switch” from the menu that would redirect visitor after click

No one has mentioned the possibility of a sub domain for each language

I have a client we did this for and just really wanted the two domain option because he wanted his other location to have that country’s TLD. We have a simple drop down in the top right corner that says language: You choose between them and it re-directs you to that sites home page.
