  • How to know your FB ad audience is targeted correctly?

My company is new to facebook ads and our ads are targeted towards business owners with an interest in or job in optometry. Looking at the people who interact with our ads, most of them don’t have any of those things present on their profile. How do I know we’re targeting correctly? There are only so many ways I can think of to target optical business owners with the filters in ad manager

They might not have that information publicly available, but they may have listed their occupation privately. Additionally, Facebook tracks user data extensively, and even if one hasn’t put their occupation on their profile, they may have been able to infer that information due to the use of third party services, or tracking data across other apps or services. Facebook is pretty good at this.

One way you can target (been a while since I’ve done this) is by employer. So you could theoretically build an exhaustive list of competitors, and target based on that combined with job title.
