  • How to get my first members to my new FB group?

Posted by seohelper on June 4, 2021 at 4:08 pm

Starting from scratch and searching the web for advice, I come across many articles and videos on the subject and all I find on starting from “scratch” is:
    – emailing my list telling them I opened a group
    – telling my Instagram followers I opened a group
    – telling my Twitter followers I opened a group
    – same for tiktok followers and people who liked my page and so on…

So I came here to ask for your advice on how to REALLY START FROM SCRATCH

I’m not looking for magic, I’m not looking for overnight success.

(I don’t want to start from FB ads)

I’m in for the long run and expect to do the work myself with dedication.

    Any advice?

What is going to be the subject matter of this group’s content?

Learn as much as you can on this.

You may have put the cart before the horse a bit. I’d step back, find 10-15 specific people who you think would benefit from this community and have a chat with them. Find out what they would value in a group like this, and invite them to be your “pioneers” in building this thing. If you can’t find those people, don’t go straight to building a group. Start with a channel where you can broadcast some of that great content you have, and spark comments back from your audience, then you can investigate whether those audience members might want to move into a community together.

You didn’t mention what your ultimate purpose was…is this something you want to monetize at some point, like with a book, webinar, coaching offering?

Get deep in the weeds of social media. By this I mean find related FB groups, sub reddits, forums etc.. any place to interact with others and to spread the message of your group and your goal. Really connect with people, getting those initial few hundred people will be the hardest but will be the most rewarding if they are actually invested in your group and you have actually connected with them. From there things like word of mouth and allowing co admins and what not will help the group scale. You’re making a group not an IG profile this honestly should be a much more intimate relationship with those in the group, especially the main members/pioneers of it!

FB ads is the most straightforward method to build a group quickly. You could try inviting a few people who would be genuinely interested but don’t do too many at once or FB will ding you.

You could run some kind of promo, content or product where people can join your private FB group as a bonus or part of the package – it helps if there’s additional content available or real interaction.

Another route would be to join some groups which have similar interests and contribute, offer to do some live content or videos, competitions. Just run I but the mods or owner to get their blessing (and maybe offer a small amount of cash maybe for the opportunity to promote yourself).

To get a new member on the Facebook group start sending invites to your friends and other people you know.
