  • How much would you charge for this massive SEO + Content Creation project?

Hello everyone! I'm looking for help and guidance from more experienced SEO freelancers and experts. My Background: I'm a freelance SEO specialist, but I have very little experience with projects of this scale.

    The Project Consists Of:

Complete SEO for 250 blog posts (Keyword research, on-page optimization, heading structure, etc.).

Writing the 250 blog posts (Creating original content).

Publishing them on the client's website (Uploading and formatting them on their CMS, likely WordPress).

Blogposting/republishing on Medium (Adapting and uploading the content to this platform as well).

In short, it's a comprehensive project involving research, writing, optimization, and publishing for 250 pieces of content.

    My Main Question:

How much should I charge for the entire project?

Would it be better to charge a fixed price for everything?

Or is it better to charge an hourly rate or a per-post rate (for example, $X per complete post)?

What price range do you suggest for the per-post rate or the flat rate?

Any advice or method that helps me calculate a fair price for both parties (client and me) is welcome.

Thank you very much in advance!

You might get a wild variance in quotes based on experience, quality and reputation.

You price out a bigger job like this:
    Client Price = (((Time × Rate) + Expenses + Profit) + Urgency) + Tax

On demand is similar, but it’ll take you longer for those jobs as you’ll have to setup for each one instead of bulk running through them. Additionally, you should be adding more expenses, profit margin, and urgency surcharge to on-demand jobs.

Duration, words and complexity of topic matter a lot.

How many people will work on this project?
Today content production with AI is cheap. Producing high quality content that serves your customer and the people is more difficult to produce nowadays. We calculate 800+ USD per content including, strategy (on content piece level), research, production, publishing, search for supporting stock images… I think it’s still cheap but sounds like a lot for customers. Until they have to do it themselves. Content production gets harder by the day. I am open for feedback from the community.

Timeline matters. Ability to sub out based on timeline.

I for one see this as a 2-year project for 1 person. As the client, I’d want control over cashflow as well. If they weren’t willing to contract long term, I wouldn’t touch it.

$10k/mo up front for 10 pieces per 30 days. That’s being nice. It’s a lot of research and writing then asset gathering, posting, and handling the on page and technical.

Pricing must be based on the following:

    – (time * effort * frequency)+ (ROI*1.5) = Final price

Accordingly let’s say for planning and writing 250 pages if it will take 3 months (80 a month) then you should be charging (((90-24) days*5hours)*(hourly rate)+ projected ROI*1.5) = your price that you should be charging to this client.

This is how I personally decide the pricing for any client that I onboard.

Divide these deliverables for 3-6 months, unless the client has provided its own timeline.

Based on that, calculate the fulfilment cost, let’s say if it costs 10$ for an article, and $5 for on page and publishing, fulfilment cost for 250 would be $3750. Now add your profit margins, let’s say $1250, then the overall cost to the client will be 5,000$, charge this amount.

P.S, i know you have a lot of deliverables, i am just helping you with a rough estimation, hope that helps.
