How long has dulicate content impact on rankings after getting rid of it?

I have a client that has 5 domains without 301 redirects. That means 5 websites with the exact same content on it.
2 month ago I installed 301 redirects and set up a complete new website.
How long does that duplicate content affect rankings after getting rid of it?

Did all 5 domainsappear in SERPs similarly before or did Google only rank one?
The first milestone would be having those old domains dissappear from the index. Are you there yet?

I’d be concerned that the 5 domains are all seen as spam by Google. That could be a long-term problem.

I think it will all depend on when the Google bots crawl those sites again. Have you tried putting the site links through an indexer. I would also create some new content for each of the sites to trigger the bots to visit the site. Otherwise the amount of time you could be waiting could be variable if you depend on the bots to find it on their own.
