  • How do you overcome the struggle of low TikTok likes as a small creator?

    Hi,

Honestly, I didn’t expect the numbers to mess with me this much. When I first downloaded TikTok, it was just for fun—throwing up random clips, trying out sounds, laughing at trends. But the moment I decided to take it “seriously” and actually create, the reality hit: hardly anyone engages. I’ll post something I spent hours editing and it barely cracks 30 likes. Meanwhile, I scroll and see effortless clips racking up thousands. It feels like you’re running a marathon while everyone else is on a motorbike.

What’s worse is the doubt it plants. Am I just not interesting? Is my content trash? Or is it just that TikTok buries smaller accounts until they somehow catch a break? That’s where the thought of “buying likes” crept in. I first heard about it on a podcast where they mentioned how social proof plays into discovery. The logic kind of made sense, if TikTok sees engagement, it’s more likely to push your video further. I never thought I’d even consider spending money on likes, but here I am, wondering if it’s the only way to get past this early dead zone.

So I’m curious, how do you all keep pushing through the struggle of low likes? And has anyone actually tried boosting with bought likes just to get unstuck?

It’s tough in the beginning because TikTok really does favor accounts with momentum, so low likes can feel discouraging, but you’re not alone in that. Some creators get past it by mixing consistent posting with small boosts from services like crescitalypanel, which can help push content into the algorithm’s radar while you keep improving naturally over time.

It’s because tik tok and insta are deep down the rabbit hole of copy paste media now. Everyone’s just scanning for what recently did well and copying it as fast as possible. It’s a shit show now AI is making the videos too.

To answer your question, pushing through low likes is just realizing that your first few months are gonna fail. Even if you think you know the algorithm, its probably not true if you’re getting only a few likes(this includes me btw)

Taking things seriously means your wanting to improve.

Listen the biggest mistake is your mindset. First of all, tiktok is one of the best algorithms. It’s one of the easiest places to get likes (don’t think of this as a bad thing, think of this as an opportunity to grow). Secondly, don’t ever compare to other people who you think has effortless clips. Even if they are effortless, by comparing yourself to them, your not really trying to learn, your just putting down yourself and lowering your morale. You need to see what made that video click compared to yours that didnt? Was it just so stupid it was funny, or maybe its something more deep like their hook was weirdly enticing.

You genuinely don’t need to spend for likes if your actually good at creating a call to action. There are people saying to be original or copy others. In my experience, it’s good to copy others and then add a new spin to your niche.

(also just in case your in the art community. Don’t try to do ART in tiktok unless you’re entertaining, if you want to purely just post art its better to do it in INSTAGRAM)

Obviously im not a professional and im still a small creator so you can take my advice with a grain of salt(although i will fight and advocate for the mindset thing).

EDIT: Btw im also a small creator but I after 1.5 months of straight doodoo numbers and 3 accounts with different niches I average around 5-50k views this week(last 5 videos got 400k views, 2.4k, 45k, 177k and 6k) so I do definitely get the struggle of sudden low views and likes for reaosns im still researching and not sure about. Im determined to make that to an average of 100k views per video consistently so im still trying to improve until now

    Don’t post for likes?

Post because you’re sharing things you want to share.

    What is the struggle?

Create content, there’s no struggle whether it gets 5 likes or 5,000 your process should be the same.

If you’re blindly posting then you should take time to study what works, what is working in your industry.

Social isn’t just “post random shit” if you want meaningful growth you need to pay attention.

I’m not gonna lie I’m in the same position it almost feels like they’re not putting out your videos to encourage you to buy views😭

but I’m not sure as well I see popular accounts spam posting and looking through it may be my opinion but it looks like their views per video may be random. But I’m in the same position so I lowkey may have to stay to see what happens😭

I felt stuck too, but what kept me motivated was trying this one. I came across. The boost in engagement helped me focus on creating instead of stressing over numbers. Honestly, it felt like the momentum I’d been missing as a small creator.
