    How do you get clients?

Posted by theprimetimestore on March 20, 2026 at 11:07 pm

Hey there, I've got 10 years experience in web design and marketing gained from trying to build my own online businesses – failed in all of them.

Anyway, the important thing is that I launched my, what I call "one-man-agency" 6 months ago, which finally puts what I learned to real work. I've got great results in marketing combined with web design, which made one of my clients $28k from invested $500 in campaigns.

I've 4 more clients with combined monthly managed portfolio value of $14k.

But here is the catch – I'm poor at selling myself and I underpaid myself at the beginning. I was happy that finally there is a business that works and can do it full time, that I didn't ask for much.

I've got a question on you guys, how do you get clients? How do you look for them? My current clients came completely randomly, so I have no proven system that works.

Cold calling doesnt seem to work or I might just be bad at it. I can the sell product of others but not mine. All I need now is like 2 more clients to be fine, but it seems impossible.

Thanks for your tips in advance!

Imagine a graphic designer asking you how to make a logo. That’s how this reads.

Had the exact same problem. Turned 3k into 40k for a client but couldnt close a fifth one. What finally worked was posting the actual campaign results as case studies on LinkedIn with zero pitch attached. People started DMing me asking for help instead of me chasing them.

Cold calling and answering people’s questions online.

A lot of small business owners are not necessarily looking for an agency right this second, but they are constantly asking marketing questions in places like Reddit, Facebook groups, and local business communities. If you give genuinely useful answers without sounding salesy, some of them eventually reach out.

Cold calling can still work too, but usually better when it is very targeted and you are speaking to a clear problem you noticed, not just pitching random services. That tends to make the conversation feel more relevant and less like a generic sales call.

You already have the hardest part handled, which is getting results. At that point it becomes more about consistently putting yourself in places where business owners can see your knowledge.

If you’re already getting good results for your customers and are happy with your services, chances are they’ll be recommending you when the opportunity comes up. Referrals are usually slower, but they’re very powerful ways to close new deals with little effort.
