How do you assess the value of Instagram handles?
Posted by on March 27, 2021 at 6:55 amAll discussions online focus on center around follower quantity and engagement, but what about handles themselves? What would commonly spoken words and phrases go for? Let’s say “@movietheater” for instance?

random phrases are based on nicheability, probably more valuable the more common the niche. Really subject to a buyer’s perceived value on these.
Single words are a lot more straightforward. $300-20,000 based on length, how common it is, how edgy it is, or it’s connection to pop culture.
1, 2 and 3 letter users also have value, no matter the mix of letters/numbers. 1 letters are around $30-60k, 2 letters are $3-20k, 2 chars are 1.5+ and 3 letters vary but usually at least $200.

I’m unlucky since I’m italian and my surname is very similar to an english verb. I’m a professional freelance photographer and I’d have loved to use just my surname as my instagram handle. The handle has been taken in 2017 by a brazilian IT firm which asked me USD 1000 to sell me the username :\ I politely declined since it’s not worth that sum for me.
