How do you answer the question “Why can’t I see my ad when I search for it?”

Title sums it up. I get asked this by clients frequently and I’m curious how other people get the point across that just because you search for your business name does not mean you’re going to see your ad..

Googles given up on you every time you search and don’t buy (insert industry).

Google tailors search results based on user behavior, budget, and location, so you may not always see your ad. Repeated searches without clicks can make Google stop showing it to you. The right way to check is through the Ad Preview and Diagnosis tool in Google Ads.

Are you targeting geos? Age demos? Audiences? Audience exclusions? Age exclusions? Do you use automated bidding? Are campaign daily budgets low? Are they searching and your campaign daily budget is exhausted?

Any of the above can dictate whether or not they are seeing the ad. Like another Redditor said as well, if you are constantly searching something and not clicking, you are likely not going to see that ad anymore unless you’re using incognito mode every single time.

I always try to explain in it through a quality over quantity lens. Not every search is worthy of an impression!
