Use Ahrefs service, analyze competitors in the top 10 in Google search. Their sites receive 10 thousand links a month, some have more. And these are not post beautiful links with an interesting article. From one domain, 300 thousand links can go, from various Japanese and Chinese forums. Now there is chaos in Google search and do not believe what Google tells you in its recommendations.

I’m a freelancer so note quite an agency, but I find that you should take it on a case-by-case basis. I have conducted link building strategies that worked for one of my client’s that would not have worked for my other clients.
