  • How can you tell if your competitor utilises an SEO company?

Are there any tell-tale signs that a competitor is paying for SEO services? And the million dollar question – which provider?

We’ve found a similar size competitor in our niche (although they’ve been around a few years longer), I periodically look at their backlink profile using SEO SpyGlass and just can’t figure it out – some links look like they might be spammy paid links but could also simply be a crawler-generated link.

Other links could be from genuine outreach efforts or could be by pure chance they stumbled on their blog post.

    Couple of ways:
    – like you said backlink growth.
    – massive organic traffic growth ( SEMrush has this data)
    – Noticeable website structure or design change (use web archive)
    – noticeable growth in content production

Should be enough signs in there between all of these factors to give you an idea. And no you can’t tell who or which company!
