How can I learn SEO – some challenges faced.

So I’m trying to learn to become an SEO and wanted to do a check on some competitors to see what their backlinks were and what kind of keywords they were using among some things.
​
Anyway, every site which lets you do this kind of analysis costs money (I’m under financial strain at the moment) like $99 a month which is a lot for me at the moment.
​
Is there anyway around this, are there any free alternatives? I hate to think my learning is scuppered because I can’t afford it, thank you.

Ahrefs backlink checker offers you some free shot and it’s one of the best.
For lower budget tool i suggest you SERanking, it’s around $35 and it’s complete.

Watch all the videos and take all the free courses you can. Once you have a very solid grasp of how the entire process works apply to entry level SEO positions. I just landed a job this way and had a very limited understanding of SEO

Did you check Semrush’s free account? They have keywords & backlink analytics, but I don’t know the limits that report has on free plan.
