  • Help with engagement on a midsize brand?

Hi y’all, I’m sure this question pops up all the time, but I thought I would give it a shot.

I just started a new job as the Social + Content Manager for a brand that has about 20k followers on IG. In my previous positions and internships, I always able to make a huge difference in engagement by just posting GOOD content- my last position I raised engagement by almost 300%.

I’ve been posting for about two weeks now, both grid posts to IGTV, Reels, and stories and am creating good, high quality content, however I’m not getting a lot of increase in engagement. Previously, they were getting 20-80 likes on a photo (so crazy for 20k followers!) and with me, it’s been not much better at 50-150. It says on analytics that content interactions are up by 50% but I can’t really find where that is.

I know that this could potentially take time to build up, but I also don’t want them to think that I’m useless and fire more for not getting results lol Does anyone have any advice or some tried and trusted ways to increase engagement?

It sounds like their engagement has always been low and you’ve actually increased it so I wouldn’t worry too much about them thinking you’re useless! Seems like you’re doing everything right by creating high quality content and taking advantage of the different tools offered on Instagram.

You could try running a few paid ads, doing a small giveaway, acquiring an influencer budget to see if any of those activations make an impact.
