Help Needed: Campaign Performance Drop After Domain Change

Posted by Emergency-Sport-4046 on July 17, 2024 at 10:40 pm

    Hello everyone,

I had a well-running campaign setup with search campaigns targeting a CPA of €25. This setup worked perfectly for months. However, two weeks ago, I switched the domain of my shop. Here's what I did:

    1. Changed the target URL in the existing campaigns without altering any other settings.
    2. Duplicated the campaign and relaunched it using a Max Conversion strategy.

Now, two weeks have passed and neither of the campaigns are performing well. The original campaign is getting almost no clicks, and the new campaign has a CPA of €50.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get these campaigns back to their previous performance levels?

    Thanks in advance!

That’s your biggest problem, I’d say. You should have simply changed the URL of your ads instead of restarting a new campaign.

In any case, you should go through the following checks:

You changed the domain, but what happened to tracking?

Is it the same GTM container, the same Analytics property tag and the same conversion tracking?

If you’re getting 0 click, are your ads even eligible? Is Google telling you anything?

Is your new domain using https?
