Hashtags reaching only 5 to max 50 people
Posted by seohelper on July 29, 2020 at 4:53 pmHi,
I try to grow the ig account of our brand and use hashtags under the posts but we only get like 5-max 50 views by hashtags.
I used different hashtags every time. We are a clothing brand, so we don’t have a big variety of hashtags. Still it’s quite disappointing because I don’t know how we can grow faster.Atm we are at around 250 followers. More than 50% of that are friends/family or by friends who gave us a shout-out.
Would be nice if you could give me some tips.
I read many blogs and stuff but still don’t know why we are performing that bad. Thanks 🙂

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 5:22 pmIt happens. The Insta algorithm is so random that even if you did all the right hashtah research it kay not rank in you them. For example, I average 1000 likes every post and I use a hashtag with an average likes of 500, in theory, my post can easily rank in them but it does not happen all the time. The Insa algorithm is very random and try not to fret about it.

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 5:30 pmYou might not be posting at the right time. If none of your followers are present when you post, they don’t like enough for Instagram to deem your post worthy and push it in hashtags.
Also, you might use hashtags that are already used too much, you’ll never be seen with big hashtags.

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 5:58 pmCan we see your account/hashtags?
How relevant are the hashtags to the content?
Ask yourself: if I was following this specific hashtag, would I LIKE to see this post or would I ignore it or even click “do not show for this hashtag”?
Also, how big/competitive are those hashtags?

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 6:08 pmwould consider testing out different batches of hashtags to see which perform best – switching up hashtags on every post to increase platform visibility when you can – testing posting times and days – and don’t be afraid to try hashtags that are closely related show your content to people who may be interested in your content without feeling spammed by it.

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 7:15 pmEverybody is performing badly because IG and Facebook have decided to kill all organic reach. You have to now pay to have people see your posts. If you do pay, you will also most likely find that you get absolutely no conversions because of the way Facebook had rigged the algorithm to get you to pay more and more.

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 7:47 pmOrganic reach is pretty challenging and time consuming to achieve these days. Better to invest that time and money in paid media that suits your category, audience and objectives.

GuestJuly 29, 2020 at 9:19 pmKeep trying different hashtags but smaller ones until you find a set that works. Also as already stated think about when your audience is online.
Also consider paying for followers in the beginning to kick-start growth

GuestJuly 30, 2020 at 2:54 amI also have a fashion page and I know it is hard to find smaller hashtags. Use hashtags that are very specific to the post. For example if the post is showing a model wearing a sleeveless blue floral print dress some tags to consider would be #bluedress #floralprintdress #sleevelessdress #maxidress . Tags like these tend to be a lot smaller also if you use a tag like #bluedress and it actually is a blue dress it favors with the algorithm and will push you to the top of those hashtags and when that happens you will also start to rank in the bigger tags like #ootd #fashion. Another reason to use very specific hashtags because if I was looking for a blue floral print dress those would be the tags I would search. Also if you can rank in those smaller tags your post tends to stay at the top for a longer period of time also making your content more discoverable. I personally have 2 groups of 20 tags that I use that are niche specific #plussizefashion #psootd are just a few examples and then I always add 7-10 very specific post tags. I have been using this strategy for awhile and it seems to be working pretty well. Hope this helps

GuestJuly 30, 2020 at 2:56 amI know the struggle. My wife started her own fashion and makeup page and the hashtags are a big challenge. She is also around 250 followers and it’s very difficult to grow organically. Though we have started gaining some traction. Here are my learnings for our experience.
1) forget hashtags that have more than a million posts. Aim small. Use 3-4 hashtags that have <10k posts, 5-6 that are between 10-100k and 3-4 that are 100-500k.
2) don’t post at the peak time of your followers (insta analytics is your best friend). Post a little before. Similar to how prime time TV slots are most expensive and smaller brands take before and after these, same logic for insta. While you’re small, take the time slot just before prime time or when max followers are active. (Example, for my wife, 9pm was primetime so we tried putting out her content at 6-7pm). It gets you some visibility with less competition. Of course try out really odd hours as well just to see how that works for you.
3) apart from your products/services, what do you stand for as a brand? I mean people are looking to follow brands or other people that have a character that they aspire to be/resonate with. If you’re a company aiming at sustainability, then maybe once in 2 weeks have a post related to that (not necessarily your product but anything). What this does is create a brand personality, as well as give you something different to post and use a very different set of hashtags that you normally don’t in your niche.
4) Be patient. Most important at this current time. It’s tempting to pay influencers or to do paid promotions but trust me it took Coke almost 60 years before it became a household name in the US, so it’s a long term game. Organic is slower but you gain a much more loyal following and you build your brand. It takes time, especially in these covid times, ppl are wary and careful. Hence be patient, you’re doing fine.
5) do experiment with reels, IGTVs and all the formats. Insta algorithm is a mystery and it will do you good to try all the formats to see what works.
6) in order to search for good hashtags, see what your bigger competitors are using, or go to search tab, search any hashtag you’re using and then it goes to that page and on top come a list of similar hashtags. Click on another and keep repeating the process and you will start seeing relevant ones but different from the ones you use .
My experience : I’m a digital marketer for the last 8 years and specialise in this field.

GuestJuly 30, 2020 at 8:14 amYou only have three posts? That in itself is a deterrent for more followers. Also, think outside the box when it comes to hashtags. You are in no way limited just because you’re a clothing brand. Who is the ideal audience of your products? What are they interested in? Tags like “skateboard” or “alternative” are going to get you nowhere, because they are so over saturated and way too generic. What are niches within these cultural areas? You need to do more research. Your post style is cool, but would be more influential with real models. If I’m going to buy something I want to see something more than just a stock photo. How else are you being relatable? Instagram provides a unique opportunity to express yourself and your brand, take advantage of it, especially if you have a certain “vibe” in mind
