  • Got less than $1 for a month of posting reels

So I decided to take Instagram a little more seriously this past month. Posted 2 reels a day, every day, just to see what would happen with the payouts.

End of the month rolls around… and my “paycheck” was literally under a dollar. Like, not even enough for a pack of gum lol.

I’ve been using this creator app called RediToPost to chat with other creators, and even there people were saying IG payouts aren’t really worth it unless you’ve got brand deals going on.

Kinda makes me wonder if I’m wasting my time. Curious tho, how have you actually been making money off Instagram, if at all?

How many views did you get during the month? TikTok pays much better.

Instagram stopped paying me for reels in January with no explanation at all. I’m still annoyed about it

How many views do you get per reel? I’ve also started a page and post atleast 1 everyday. I’m averaging 100 per reel and want to know how to get a substantial boost.

You need solid posting history and followers to get those brand deals.

It’s a hard graft, but don’t give up.

TikTok is hard graft too. The Creator Rewards Program pays marginally better (and the pay per view equivalent does scale up based on certain factors), but consistently getting enough views is still tough.

If you get on TikTok’s Specialized Rewards Program (I think it’s still called that), it pays better, but getting on that is very challenging.

I make $1,500-$2,000 every month doing brand partnership deals. I would advise against any payment plan that is ran by the social media you’re using – it’s a scam in the sense that they’ll only ever give you peanuts compared to what you’re making them.

If you have good engagement and authentic followers – emailing companies to promote their products is the most foolproof way to make money on instragm right now. I personally set up monthly deals like “I’ll give you 3 timeline posts spread out over the month for $600”. Prove how many sales you can get them and you have a regular monthly customer! I do this with 4 brands and their products fall into my photography nicely

    how many views?

the tiktok creator fund pays really well. it’s usually around $1.00 per thousand qualified views, though sometimes it’s more or less. I don’t post every day but tiktok has been paying my bills for the last few months since I got laid off, lol.

You’ll need more than that. A trustfudn from parents and be a very attractive looking female and you will get followers without trying.

Eye candy is what people go for.

It helps to think of it this way: Instagram isn’t your employer, it’s your landlord.

You’re getting free space (your account) to build a business, and in return, your content (the Reels) keeps other tenants (the users) in the building for Instagram to sell ads to.

The real money was never going to come from the landlord’s pocket; it has to come from the business you build in that space, like brand deals or selling your own stuff.

    Honestly,

You have to be lunatic to think you can make a living out of Instagram.

    You need a bigger strategy…

    Way bigger

use reels for reach, then funnel traffic to something you OWN (newsletter, site, product).
