Google won’t stop harassing me to raise my marketing spend on Google Ads
Posted by Much_Speech_8388 on December 15, 2025 at 6:39 pmGoogle calls unrelentingly to talk about "optimizing" my ads, which is fancy talk for increasing your budget. I have told each rep to stop calling me. I went into the Google Ads dashboard and opted out of them calling me, yet they cold call me sometimes 10 times a day asking me to increase my budget.
I have told the reps multiple times I feel harassed by them and that this needs to stop. Nothing is working.
I get phone calls at 3AM, 12PM, 6PM, etc etc. All hours of the day and night.
Ridiculous.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 6:41 pmSame here, except via email. I keep blocking them, and they are sending it from new emails, I don’t want to block the Google domain itself, but it’s annoying as hell.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 6:43 pmGive them a project. Make it complicated but one that would help you. Tell them if they can guarantee results you’ll be able to raise your budget. You’ll never hear from them again.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 6:52 pmHere’s what I do:
Answer it. “Hi Google Ads, unfortunately, I don’t take unplanned meetings and won’t be able to have a discussion with you. If you have any recommendations about my account, feel free to email them to me. Do not contact me by phone again.”
This works 70% of the time.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 6:53 pmanswer the call and put the phone on mute. it should sound (to them) like a disconnected number and hopefully choose to remove you from their list.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 6:54 pmMark their number as spam and block it… the rep team has zero authority over your account performance anyway, they’re just salespeople with quotas hitting call metrics.
I’ve had clients get harassed like this and the only solution that actually works is blocking the number entirely. Opting out in the dashboard does nothing because they route calls through different numbers and different teams ignore opt-out flags constantly.

They’re going to tell you to turn PMax on so you can buy massive amounts of click fraud.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 7:08 pmFYI – Google has been violating several telemarketing laws with their ad reps for a long time. You’re going to see class actions for this stuff in the future. Make sure to keep records.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 7:08 pmThat’s not google, that’s cnam and number spoofing, I get that too, my “blocked vm” are filled with the same numbers leaving vm’s.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 7:27 pmTell them if you want a meeting then they need to outline an agenda and send it beforehand. Or just ignore them and only speak to growth partners or partner support which isn’t much better but at least you get a presentation telling you to spend more money.
One call I just stopped the rep and said “I would love to get increase our spend but it is a set budget, we don’t have unlimited funds like Google and can just recommend increasing money. Budget should be the last recommendation not the first.” To which circled into “I thought conversions were valuable to your company?”.
Fuck their templated scripts.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 7:47 pmI was managing campaigns for a major consumer goods conglomerate with yearly budgets in the 10s of millions and they still harassed us over spend levels.
I straight up told my rep that if she came to a meeting again with budget requests but not optimization ideas I’d be canceling all the meetings moving forward. She tried to call my bluff but I stuck to my word and we didn’t meet with Google for about 6 months.. performance improved in that time period.

GuestDecember 15, 2025 at 7:52 pmI’m an admin contact on about 30 Google Ads accounts. I get 2 – 6 of these *a day*.
I don’t even answer my phone anymore unless I know who the caller is.
