I’m not sure if it has anything to do with Reddit share. Probably, trying to balance out market share for communities after being so much one-sided. Don’t blame me, I’m just being optimistic =||

the “<keyword> reddit” searches probably made the push. keyword + reddit terms appears in Google Keyword Planner.
