Google Ads: Competitor quadruple serving the same brand for the same keywords

Posted by seohelper on March 9, 2021 at 8:39 am

    Hey guys,

I have a competitor in my local area who is quadruple serving (and more sometimes) on certain keywords.

All they are doing is completely copying the website, changing the domain name and absolutely nothing else and setting up a campaign for that website. The branding is all exactly the same (even the logo), the content is the same and they even all link back to a master site. In my local area if you type in a popular keyword all of there websites show up 3/4 + more times on Google Ads so they have the monopoly on that keyword. I have done some research and they are doing this exact same thing in every area in the UK, and I have counted over 75 websites with the exact same content, branding, logo etc.

Is this against the rules? and if so what can I do about it? I know how competitive online marketing is but this is just a joke. it’s clear to any human that looks that its the same business without a doubt.

    Thanks for any help!

You can report the ads for “unfair advantage” violation:

Yes, this is against the rules and can cause a permanent account suspension due to circumventing systems. You can report them.

While this is against their own rules, Google might be lazy to take action unfortunately. Many companies are abusing the system this way to a different degree. Report it, demand answer. This is clearly against healthy competition.

This is against Google’s rules for unfair competitive advantage.

Advertising multiple businesses is allowed if they are all discrete businesses. This means they all must be registered as separate businesses. If it’s the same company it’s not allowed.

Somebody else already provided the link but here it is again:

Note that reporting them, even multiple times, may still not lead to any change. Google may determine they have multiple registered businesses and are in compliance. Or Google may just not do anything about it.
