    Good Idea To Max Out Negative Keywords

    Posted by seohelper on August 7, 2020 at 3:51 pm

    Hello friends;

    Since last two month we began to advertise on google ads we never need it before since 10 years. But coz of covid situations most of our clients dropped. So we wen to get new job thru google ads.

    I am running google ads campaigns for web designe services. As you know “Web Design” keyword catches many of useless searches for example “free web … , or web design lessons etc”.

    I decide to use ahrefs Phrase match tool to select all phrases which i dont need and add them to google ads negative keywords i selected more over than 700 negative phrases. Is this a safe way to go?

    You don’t even need Ahrefs for this per se. The Google Ads’ keyword tool gives you a lot of suggestions you can add to your negative keyword lists straightaway.

    Since you’re new to this, you might want to check out 1) how negative keywords work (they don’t work like regular keywords work), 2) how to use them on different levels (account/list vs. campaign vs. ad group).

    When I ran ads for web design many years ago, I found it actually far more realistic to start out advertising my keywords on a very small budget starting out only in exact match format starting out so you get every single dollar of value out of your budget first and don’t burn out your budget before you ever get started.

    That said and once you got exact match covered,

    you can then move to phrase match after that if you want and MBM (modified broad match) for any 4 words or greater phrases after that as about as far as you need to stretch out your account after that.

    Start out by targeting only the buying terms and you won’t need many or any negative keywords at all to get you started, ie. “**web design services**”, “**ux web design service**” etc.

    If you do get to a point where you do need negative keywords and you get to the point of running your keywords in phrase match at least, **if you reach out to me in DM I will send you a copy of my negative keyword list I have left over for this industry** (I got a list of about 300+ terms that will go in there) that will cover pretty much everything you need before you ever get started all in one.

    Good luck with your endeavors, *hope that helps*.
