Hi, I’m new to SEO. And I’ve been trying to learn new things daily to cope up with the trends. But, there’s an issue with the site that I’m working on.

I’ve been trying to rank one of our pages for a competitive keyword. I’ve built around 3k backlinks and PA of around – 41. While others have 1 to 2k backlinks and some have around 10k backlinks.

Even though I build backlinks and added freshness to the site by adding content, my page hasn’t improved on rankings rather it dropped. I don’t know what’s the reason behind this. Can someone help me with this?

Do a competitive analysis, i.e. google the keyword you are trying to rank for and see the top 10 results. How many backlinks do those pages have? How much content? What’s their keyword density? What’s their load time? Who do they have links from vs who do you have links from etc.?

3k backlinks raises a red flag for me. They’re obviously not backlinks that are natural. As others have said, look at the SERPs for your keyword and understand why Google is ranking those pages in the first page. Get your page to be as good as those top pages.

How quickly did you build 3000 backlinks, and how closely do you think this matches a ‘natural’ gain of backlinks.

This is because you seem to put more effort into backlinks than into your content. Google can tell your links are artificial. That’s all there is to it.

Improve your content, your ranking will go up.
