Howdy! I’m an artist and I’ve been posting my art on social media for a couple of years now but I can’t seem to grow. I’ll get a couple of followers but then I just plateau and don’t know how to get out of it. I want to make art my full time career so I figured I’d try tik tok and insta to promote my work. They’re both @Art_P3rry
I’ve tried posting to reels on Instagram but that’s made me loose followers 🙁 and now on tik tok my videos barely get 100 likes

You have almost twenty nine thousand followers. This kind of posts usually come from people who have a few hundred tops. You are doing fine.

However – I noticed a lot of posts were of your face. I’d suggest painting a few other faces. But really – what do I know, Mr. 29k

Secondly – if you not not doing so then you need to sell that art. Convert those numbers. Make prints and make it easy easy to click and buy. The money you make should be spent on personal branding. If you had those numbers also on youtube, and on tiktok, and on Linkedin and on Twitter then you could have a very strong business.

I ve seen your Insta, and i can see you have a healthy engagement, with a heavy fluctuation from post to post, but i assume because you are mixing art/discourse/personality with a strong message and explicit opinions, which usually can antagonize or attract, depending on the reach and hashtag managing. The variations over your posts is limited. I mean, the content keeps close to the same artwork, maybe too much, when there is usually an order to the sketch, the canvass pre-process and the painting process itself over the course of the piece. When you procure content with a niche focus, its common to see a moderate fanbase but a heavy engagement overall, which is important, because the process to purchase is shorter, but the endorsement maybe not, unless you create bridges with niche brands that can resonate with yours.

I completely know that feeling. In 2017, suddenly saw a dramatic collapse in traction on FB. Back then it was my only active platform and I used it to share my Youtube and other content as well. Complete death and you start questioning if you’re a good enough artist. But it really is the algorithm. I thought my Twitter was trash earlier but now I manage RTs from some big accounts even if overall RTs are not in triple/four digits while I found my main traction on Linkedin. You just need to get decent traction on any one network and start creating for that. Then just port the content to others, So that those platforms remain alive.

For pictures, Pinterest and Instagram are the best mediums. Have you given that a go yet? Also, it would help if you can post them on LinkedIn if it’s what you do for a living. But not just post it, make sure you’re posting enough on the respective platforms and at the right times. Also make sure to check out where similar people or your competitors are posting those images/work of art. If you have tools like Ahrefs and others, you can use them on your competitors to actually find out where they’ve promoted their content. you can also use social tools to check if they’re running paid ads and then you can start from there.

check what worked (posts with most of likes) and build strategy around this. Change ratio of things that You show to show the things that people wants and add new things to constantly evolve.

One of the reasons the relationship can’t grow is that it has done so many things at once. You have used 5 platforms and are trying to control them simultaneously. Each platform has its own uniqueness, social media dimension, philosophy and frequency of broadcasting.

If you want to participate in a website, you must be the administrator of the article, not the creator. Being a good curator means picking things up, like a museum or a gallery. Most people talk about the 80/20 principle: what you learn should be 80% by others and 20% by yourself.

Your account looks okay, like others have mentioned though, your content can feel a little monotonous. Different poses, different models.

    How’s your hashtag reach?

How often do you post stories?

How often do you engage with not just your followers but within your niche community?

Reels is actually quite helpful if you have “good” reels. High quality video that’s entertaining (saw a funny story on your timeline ??).
Also use hashtags on your reels while hiding them( drag the hashtags out of frame.)

Hope you get more traction ??!
